Reflect and Conflict Situations
Reflect is used in many areas of conflict, some which have been well reported, such as Burundi, and others less well-known. Recently, Julie Adu-Gyamfi took advantage of secondment to pull together some of these experiences and learnings. The findings are reported in Education Action 17: New Approaches to Addressing Complex Trauma and Psychosocial Challenges in Africa. She finds, for example, that trauma is a collective experience and Reflect does have a potential role, but that new approaches to addressing complex traumas should be culturally-specific, group-based, gender and age sensitive, integrated and open to communication for learning and sharing.
